Jakarta Provincial Government will remove the fundraising coupon of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), which is often found in movie theaters, restaurants, hotels and other places. Later, the PMI donations system will be replaced by using auto debit card or electronic card such as ATM card.

Jakarta Public Welfare Assistant (Askesmas) Secretary, Bambang Sugiyono said, many people who objected to paying PMI funding in cinemas, restaurants and hotels.

"The citizens worry if their donations are misused. It means the government will get the bad impact. So the city government must erase this system," said Sugiyono, Sunday (12/13).

According to him, erasing this system will also reduce the PMI revenue. Later on, PMI is asked to be more creative in collecting fund.

He continued, PMI coupons funds are often duplicated by certain elements to get personal gain. The condition is getting worse by the absence of the officer to monitor the coupons spread.

Meanwhile, Jakarta PMI Head, Rini Sutiyoso said ready to remove the PMI funding coupon system according to city government wish. During this time, she continued, her side is always doing fundraising by involving urban villages apparatus in every region of Jakarta.

"BPK also audits our finance. So far we applied the transparency method. However, I support the city government plan," she said.

Rini added, public donations to the Red Cross fund is used for operational members who take blood donors in the field. The result of the donation is also used for disaster response activities.

"PMI is a non-governmental organization that focused on disaster response," he disclosed.
